Spring Break Practice/Game Ideas
Here are some Spring Break ideas for you to consider. I've done them all and I will point out the one I found the most beneficial.
Spring Break Plan #1:
M - Practice
T - Game
W - Practice
T - Practice
F - Game
In this plan, you get no time off from the game. You also get no family time. Yes, you think - practice is only 2 hours. But as a coach, you get there early and then leave late watering the field. That's about a 4 hours work day.
Spring Break Plan #2:
M - Non-District Game (easy win - throw your #3-4 pitchers)
T - District Game
W - Off
T - Practice
F - District Game
Plan #2 gives you one extra game plus one mid-week day off. This is a good idea only if you can find an easy win for Monday. Players would rather play a game than practice. Plus having the day off for everyone is great. Your family will thank you.
Spring Break Plan #3:
M - Practice
T - Game
W - Off
T - Game
F- Off
Plan #3 only works if your opponent is also on spring break. This gives you two games plus a mid-week day off followed by a three-day weekend. This is the best plan! The players liked it, the coaches liked it, and my family loved it.
Practice times
When you do practice, don't be the early bird . . . let the kids sleep in and you can eat breakfast with the family. Have practice mid-morning. Better yet, let the kids have all day off and then hold practice at 7 under the lights.
Make it Fun
After one practice, have the booster club grill some hot dogs, chips, and a soda. This will get the baseball community together and create memories.

Something to think about
This will make you laugh and if you coach enough - you will see them all!
Show your RHP what a pick-off move looks like. Quick feet - Quick throw - Accurate throw.
Show your team - even the pros make adjustments.
Enjoy your Spring Break!
